Overview

Spangdahlem Air Base is located near the town of Spangdahlem in the Eifel region of Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, approximately 40 kilometers northeast of Trier. Home of the 52nd Fighter Wing, Spangdahlem operates the F-16CM/DM Fighting Falcon in the air superiority, SEAD, and strike roles in support of U.S. Air Forces in Europe (USAFE-AFAFRICA) and NATO. Spangdahlem is one of the most picturesque U.S. military installations in Europe, situated in the rolling Eifel hills near the Mosel River wine country. The base is nicknamed “Saber Base” from its heritage as a Cold War strategic fighter base.
