Coast Guard Pacific Area is a command, not a base: MilitaryINSTALLATIONS lists USCG Pacific Area among the major units of USCG Base Alameda, 42 Eagle Rd., Alameda, California, along with the USCG Southwest District and the cutters Bertholf, Munro, Stratton and Waesche, according to the Base Alameda major units page. Base Alameda is on Coast Guard Island, and Munro “is one of four 418-foot Legend-class national security cutters homeported in Alameda”, according to an October 2026 Coast Guard Pacific Area news release on DVIDS.

Commands under Pacific Area at Base Alameda

The major units page lists these commands with Pacific Area as their parent command:

  • USCG Southwest District
  • USCGC Bertholf
  • USCGC Munro
  • USCGC Stratton
  • USCGC Waesche

The Southwest District is the former District 11. A Coast Guard final rule in the Federal Register, effective Oct. 2, 2025, updated the regulations to reflect the renaming of Coast Guard districts from numbers to geographic names, including District 11 to USCG Southwest District, District 13 to USCG Northwest District, District 14 to USCG Oceania District and District 17 to USCG Arctic District (Federal Register, 90 FR 47583).

If you are assigned here: Base Alameda

If your orders are to one of these commands, the Base Alameda MilitaryINSTALLATIONS pages give the check-in steps. During duty hours, check in at Building 21, 2nd Deck; after hours, call the Officer of the Day (510-453-6903), per the check-in page. Hand-carry your PCS orders. A sponsor is assigned to you when you receive PCS orders, the sponsorship page says. For local emergencies, dial 911, per the emergency assistance page. Base Alameda’s main number is 510-437-5379.

Commissary

The Defense Commissary Agency says the only Coast Guard commissary active today is at Kodiak, Alaska; see our Coast Guard Air Station Kodiak guide for its history. Ask your sponsor about the nearest military commissary and exchange before you move.

Before you report

Confirm whether your orders are to Pacific Area staff, the Southwest District or a cutter, and ask your sponsor about housing before you sign a lease.
