Overview
Fort Benning was established in 1918 as an infantry training post and is located adjacent to Columbus, Georgia, on the Georgia-Alabama border. Covering approximately 182,000 acres, it is one of the largest Army installations in the United States. The installation serves as the home of the Maneuver Center of Excellence (MCoE) and hosts the U.S. Army Infantry and Armor Schools, making it the premier ground combat training center in the U.S. Army.
