Overview
Malmstrom Air Force Base is located immediately adjacent to Great Falls, Montana, and serves as one of three ICBM (intercontinental ballistic missile) bases in the United States. Home to the 341st Missile Wing, Malmstrom operates and maintains the Minuteman III ICBM force across a vast missile field covering approximately 13,800 square miles of central Montana. The base is named for Colonel Einar Axel Malmstrom, a World War II pilot killed in a 1954 training accident at the base.
