Overview
Moron Air Base (Moron de la Frontera) is located approximately 55 kilometers southeast of Seville, Spain, in the Andalusia region. The base is a jointly operated U.S.-Spanish installation, shared with the Spanish Air Force’s Ala 11 fighter wing. Moron serves as a strategic contingency base for U.S. Africa Command (AFRICOM) and European Command (EUCOM), providing critical forward staging capability for operations and humanitarian missions in Africa and Southern Europe. The U.S. presence is hosted under the U.S.-Spain Defense Cooperation Agreement. Moron gained prominence after the 2012 Benghazi attack response when Marine Corps Special Purpose MAGTF-Crisis Response-Africa was established there.
