Overview

RAF Menwith Hill is a Royal Air Force station located near Harrogate in North Yorkshire, England, approximately 30 kilometers west of Harrogate and 280 kilometers north of London. The station is operated by the United States Air Force under the U.S.-UK Defense Cooperation Agreement and is one of the world’s largest electronic monitoring stations. The installation is known for its distinctive white radome “golf ball” structures housing satellite communications and intelligence collection systems. RAF Menwith Hill is operated in close partnership with the National Security Agency (NSA) and GCHQ (UK Government Communications Headquarters).
